About Us

From a small seed, a great thing can grow. It never ceases to amaze us how seeds can become food on our table or how roots can form on a leaf, where there previously weren't any, to grow a whole new plant whose form adds beauty and enjoyment to our home. How gracious God is, that He reveals His glory to us in these ways!

Born and raised in the Black Hills of South Dakota, we, the Schafer sisters ~Angie & Jenelle~, love supporting local foods and small businesses in our community. Now, we hope to join in by growing fresh vegetables and locally propagating houseplants in Rapid City. We have educational backgrounds in horticulture and general science, so we enjoy learning and sharing the things we know about plants. If you are in Rapid City or the surrounding Black Hills area, feel free to contact us and find our what we have growing.

What we grow

We grow seasonal vegetables that are versatile in the kitchen. We believe that if someone is going to make the choice to incorporate fresh vegetables into their diet, they probably need to both like eating them and know how to cook with them. Vegetables that have a high storage capacity, which can be consumed fresh or preserved and eaten during the winter, are staples on our farm.

Our houseplant are propagated from stock plants in our personal collection. We like plants that are beautiful but simple to maintain so that anyone can enjoy them in their home.

Advice from a Horticulturalist

Finding science-based, reliable growing information can be a difficult, frustrating process. If you have questions about horticultural topics ~gardening, houseplants, landscape plants, insects etc.~ send an email, and as a horticulturalist, I can yield information I have or do some research to produce answers from other resources. Also, check out our growing tips for general growing advice.
